Concrete Moisture Testing and Mitigation
Florida slabs are damp. We measure it before it can ruin a finish.

Moisture moving up through a slab can lift coatings, stain floors and cause mildew. In Florida, with its high water table, humidity and storms, moisture is a serious planning item.
We test with in-slab relative humidity probes and, where useful, surface tests. If readings are high, we explain the options: waiting, ventilating, vapor-reducing treatments or choosing a finish that tolerates moisture better, such as polished and densified concrete.
Why polishing is forgiving
Polished concrete is a breathable finish compared with an impermeable film. That is one reason it is popular in humid climates. Still, extreme moisture can cause staining or efflorescence, so we test.
What we do with the results
If readings are in range for the chosen finish, we proceed. If not, we write up the options and costs honestly rather than risk a failure.

Is it right for your floor?
A good fit when
- You are on a slab in a humid or coastal area
- You have had flood or water problems
- You plan to coat or seal
- You want an informed decision before starting
Worth knowing
- Tests are a snapshot in time
- Rain and irrigation can change readings
- Mitigation adds cost and time
- Some slabs have no vapor barrier
Good questions about moisture testing & mitigation.
Do all projects need testing?
We recommend it for coatings and any slab with a history of dampness.
How long does it take?
Probes need time to settle. We plan the schedule around that.
What if the slab is too wet?
We offer options, including mitigation systems.
