Kitchens and food-production areas are some of the toughest places for any floor. Hot water, grease, acids and constant washdowns demand a dense, sealed, seamless surface.
We prepare and polish concrete in front-of-house and back-of-house areas and discuss where a specialty coating system is the better answer, such as in washdown rooms. Honest advice about what a polished floor can and cannot do in a wet processing area is part of our job.
Where polishing works
Dry storage, prep rooms, dining areas, coolers with proper slope and many kitchens do well with a densified, sealed polish and a guard. It is seamless apart from joints, and cleans without grout lines.
Where we recommend something else
Constant hot washdowns, harsh sanitizers or thermal shock can call for a urethane cement or other resinous system. We will say so rather than promise too much.
